Directorate Biofuel Producers and supporting industry

The Directorate concentrates its actions on:

The promotion of the image of biofuels as excellent quality fuels. This is done by informing the press about the importance that the manufacturing process must be absolutely right to produce quality fuel. When problems arise with engines, the manufacturer and not the biofuel is to be blamed.
Support the SABS in its endeavors to compile technical standards for bio-fuels.
Promotion of Government support for bio-fuels. Meetings have meet held with various Government Departments to remove uncertainties and wrong perceptions and more will be scheduled.
Promote the acceptance by the mineral fuels industry of bio-fuels as a valuable product for blending.
Liaise with NAAMSA on matters relating to fuel standards and engine warranties.
Distribution of information on meetings and symposia relating to bio-fuels.
Support research on technical matters relating to biofuels. This could be an industry-wide problem that needs a combined approach.
Support sustainable practices, both agricultural and refinery-based practices, for the production of bio-fuels. In this regard, special attention needs to be paid to prevent the destruction or degradation of eco-systems for the cultivation of oil-crops and the prevention of effluent from impacting negatively on the environment.
Create strong operational partnerships with other Directorates of SABA.

The Biofuels Distributors and Service Providers Directorate

The Biofuels Distributors and Service Providers Directorate concentrates its actions on the following areas:

The introduction of recognized-quality standards at consumer level
The establishment of industry-approved business practices
The setting-up and normalization of distribution channels
The promotion of a market-related commercial environment
The communication and intermediation with the various stake holders influencing the end users
The supply and exchange of international market information
The generation of business opportunities across the wide spectrum of the Biofuels Service Providers
The facilitation of financial services
The support of research and development services including studies
The business planning
The facilitation of project management services
The creation of strong operational partnerships with the other SABA Directorates (Biomass & Biofuels producers)
Note that support and facilitation services might be subject to SABA membership.
