SADC Biofuels Policy Workshop

Johannesburg, South Africa - 4th - 9th February 2008

Laws and regulations are becoming more and more important for the development of the biofuel sectors. For the SADC region that is even more important as:

  • Import/Export regulation is very important as national markets are relatively small.
  • Technologies and equipment are very similar.
  • Foreign Capital Investment [FDI] is needed in SADC countries.
  • Agricultural , Enviromental and Socio-economic standards have to be adhered to.

 

The Southern African Biofuels Association has decided to prepare an "SADC Biofuels Policy Workshop" as an private sector initiative this will include the:

Preperation of proposals to Governments to arrange the collective business enviroment and the norms and standards that the industry should operate within.
